Fishing & the River

The Henry’s Fork watershed encompasses 1.7 million acres and over 3,000 miles of rivers, streams and canals in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. This rich expanse supports healthy populations of fish and wildlife, including several threatened and endangered species, as well as a wide range of high-quality recreational experiences.

The Henry's Fork area offers a high-quality recreational experience, with some of the finest trout fishing in the entire United States. Visit these pages throughout the summer to keep up to date on river conditions and the best fishing spots.

The Yellowstone Ecosystem

The Henry’s Fork is the aorta of life, supporting much more than a legendary fishery. Its waters support one of the most diverse and precious ecosystems on the planet.

Wild Trout

The Henry’s Fork River is predominantly a wild trout fishery and has been managed as a wild trout (i.e., no stocking) fishery by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game since 1978.

Protecting the River

The Henry’s Fork Foundation was founded with one goal in mind: to preserve, protect and restore this ecosystem. So the unique fishery, wildlife and aesthetic qualities of the area's watershed will remain for future generations to enjoy.

History & Legends

Some of the greatest fly fishermen to ever apply their craft have looked to the Henry’s Fork waters to test their skills. What has set a few apart is their ability to kindle the imagination of fisherman everywhere.
