Sorry for the technical difficulties! Two of the three South Fork sondes (in-river water quality monitoring device) are experiencing some technical issues this summer thanks to various forces of nature. These sondes measure water quality parameters like water temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and more.
The "Canyon" South Fork sonde got dislodged when flow hit 20,000 cfs earlier in June. The team is working to rebuild the housing and reinstall the sonde to better stand up to potential high flows down the road.
To add insult to injury, the "Lower" South Fork sonde is having issues with animals chewing the cables, interrupting real-time data transmission. Staff are manually downloading the data from the sonde, then uploading it to the site back at the office periodically.
Thank you to the awesome guides and anglers who reached out to HFF about the issue. The team is working very hard to get everything back up and running, and to make sure this doesn't happen again.
