The Science and Technology Raffle raises money to increase HFF’s scientific and technological capacity to inform real-time, science-based management of the Henry’s Fork and its wild trout fisheries. Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of 5 incredible prizes, including a week on the Henry's Fork.

This year we are focusing on Investing in a Healthy Henry's Fork. Anglers come from all over the nation to experience the magic of the Henry’s Fork. Few experiences are more paradoxically thrilling and serene than casting a dry fly to rising trout. While the Henry’s Fork still boasts astonishing aquatic insect numbers, and 2023 brought some of the best water quality we’ve seen in years, this doesn’t minimize the trends being seen across the globe, and changes in fishing conditions seen by anglers on the Ranch. HFF’s Ranch Water Temperature and Aquatic Insect Monitoring (AIM for Healthy Rivers) programs will continue to dig into why anglers are seeing changes in their favorite hatches, just as scientists around the world try to determine what’s behind broader insect declines. The AIM for Healthy Rivers Program, now entering its 10th year, is producing one of the most comprehensive and rigorous long-term insect datasets on any trout stream, anywhere in the western US.

We have also learned a great deal about Island Park Reservoir in recent years. Nearly a decade of research will be turned into action, with work designed to reduce fishing-season sediment export from the reservoir, reduce water temperatures, and benefit the fishery in the face of changing conditions. We may be fortunate here on the Henry’s Fork compared to most, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be on the leading edge of understanding, and addressing, these issues. Let’s reduce sediment and strengthen our aquatic insect communities for the future of the Henry’s Fork.
